Margalla Festival in full swing at Art and Craft Village - The News International

The 10-day Margalla Festival being held at the Art and Craft Village is in full swing and providing a rich source of recreation and entertainment to the residents of twin cities.

The festival, which started on May 31, is organised by the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The festivities of the event were divided on different days by presentations of all provinces and regions of the country.

In the festival, June 1 was celebrated as Punjab Day and June 2 was dedicated to Sindh. June 4 would be celebrated as Balochistan Day. An exclusive show on AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan culture would be presented on June 6, whereas June 7 would be celebrated as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Day.

During the festival, horse dances have also been arranged for the entertainment of the visitors on daily basis.On Punjab Day, the visitors enjoyed their favourite colourful cultural events of the province. People of all age groups were amused by the prominent cultural group ‘Jhoole Laal’.

Mulazim Hussain, a renowned singer who earned great name in a music competition in India, performed before a large audience. People greatly applauded the traditional Punjabi dance ‘Luddi’.

The famous folk singer from Hazara, Afshan Zabi, performed in Hindko, Punjabi, Seraiki and Pushto and received great appreciation from the audience.Another folk music icon from Punjab, Gulshan Jehan, entertained the visotors with her melodious voice.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, CDA Member Planning and Design Syed Mustafain Kazmi said; “On the direction of CDA Chairman Syed Tahir Shahbaz this mega cultural event has been arranged, which is representing culture of all provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK.

Syed Mustafain Kazmi also appreciated the efforts of the CDA Sports and Culture Directorate for organising such a big cultural event.

He said that beautiful cultural colours of provinces provide ecstasy to the visitors in the beautiful environment of the metropolis. He said that people from all walks of life are visiting the festival to enjoy the cultures of their choice.

Syed Mustafain Kazmi said that recreational and entertainment activities not only provide opportunities to folk singers and artistes but also help promote our rich culture at international level.Earlier, he visited different stalls at the festival.The concluding ceremony of the festival would be held on June 9.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani collects Rs 75 crore, may enter 100 crore club in first ... - Indian Express

Ex-couple Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone's Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is breaking records at the box office and the rom-com has already collected a whopping Rs 75 crores in four days.


Reports are that at this rate the movie might enter the elite 100 crore club in its first week itself.


Noted film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeting the numbers said the movie is "rewriting the rules of the game". A double digit [13 cr] Monday? Most biggies don't reach that number on Sunday...



Taran further wrote that the movie will soon be entering the Rs 100 crore club.



It was the first time after their bitter breakup in 2010 that Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone came together for a movie.


Though the movie was panned by critics, the movie has clicked with audience especially youngsters.
